Sara Uzel, Senior Consultant, Principal

Sara Uzel has over 20 years of experience in the field of communications, and founded Technology Trends Group in 1997 to specifically provide consulting and technical project management to organizations that need professional advice and services to evaluate how and if new technology should be implemented within an organization. With a BS in Business Administration from Mary Washington College, she is a member of Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI) and the Society of Communications Technical Consultants (SCTC), an association of independent consultants who adhere to a strict Code of Ethics and have a proven track record of performance. Sara also serves on The Society of Communication Technology Consultants Executive Board of Directors.

Noteworthy Projects: Sara helped an internationally renowned non-profit to merge and modernize its complex phone system of 75 independent systems over four years, following a careful evaluation and budget analysis that included a Total Cost of Ownership of the alternatives, technical comparison of features to requirements, Gap Analysis, and impacts to operations.



Byron Battles, Senior Consultant, Principal

Byron Battles has over 30 years of experience in the telecommunications consulting and industry experience in direct voice and data telecommunications evaluation, technical and project consulting, and applied subject research. He has voice and computer-related consulting experience that includes requirements analysis, needs projections, RFP preparation, proposal evaluation, technical evaluation and support, and project management. Byron is a Past President (2006-2008) of The Society of Communication Technology Consultants International. In addition to long term projects with two quasi-governmental international institutions, he has also worked with several municipalities and associations.

Noteworthy Projects: Byron designed and managed implementation of multiple telecommunications systems networking for two major metropolitan newspapers that included remote business units and locations; implemented advanced contact center applications based on CTI and IVR technology, including 96-seat predictive dialer to avoid costs, generate revenue and present a seamless enterprise network that customers and callers perceive as a single entity.

Laura Gross has over 30 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, supporting diverse clients from the public and private sector as they identify IT consulting and services needs. With extensive expertise in structured cable plant needs analysis and design, project management and logistics, procurement negotiation dispute resolution, Laura excels at working with our TTG clients to understand their unique IT needs and matching TTG consulting and project management services.

Noteworthy Projects: In addition to her role as VP, Laura has repeatedly demonstrated expertise such as assisting with the design of a million feet of OSP single mode fiber connecting 24 buildings in Washington, DC, and managing the logistics of providing more than $3 million in product over the 2-year installation.

Dan Vargo has over 20 years experience in the telecommunications field. His depth of knowledge brings an unparalleled level of expertise to TTG’s consulting service’s team. As a Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD), a member of Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI) and The Society of Communication Technology Consultants (SCTC), Dan’s expertise and independence is assured. Having provided design and project management for over 200 client telecom infrastructure projects, serving both private industry and overseas public holdings, Dan brings a full range of experience on a broad array of projects.

Noteworthy Projects: Before joining TTG, Dan was responsible for telecommunications infrastructure design and installation project management for construction and renovation projects at over 70 U.S. Department of State overseas Chanceries, Consulates, and Embassy compounds.

Diane Halliwell has more than 35 years of experience in the field of communications as well as more than 25 years of experience in the Contact Center arena. She leads the Contact Center practice at TTG, with a background in writing white papers,  conducting industry webinars, and presenting data to customers while serving as a Contact Center SME. Diane is also a past or current member of various Vendor Executive Councils.

Diane has significant experience in providing strategic plans to clients. This includes developing strategic technology and operational roadmaps through the in-depth assessment of business requirements. She is also adept at evaluating, recommending, designing, and implementing technology solutions, including Omni-channel Contact Centers, Interactive Voice Response(IVR) platforms, and voice solutions.

In the Contact Center operations area, Diane developed a methodology to identify issues within an organization that has an impact on the customer contact experience, and provide practical and effective solutions to remedy problems to supply better customer satisfaction and corporate profits.  Areas that are typically problematic include IVR and web portal designs, workflow processes and procedures, and communications gaps within the enterprise and Contact Center organization.

Noteworthy Projects: Diane was the program manager for a large health insurance provider that was modernizing its entire telephony and Contact Center infrastructure over seven locations throughout the United States. In that role, she was accountable for all aspects of the initiative, and managed vendor organizations, carriers, and the client’s internal IT staff. She also facilitated the design of the redundant carrier network, as well as the telephony and Contact Center solutions. She developed the testing methodology, and oversaw all phases of the testing and implementation over a two-year period.

Deirdre Mullaly has more than 20 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, with extensive expertise in telecom management, project management, research and analysis, dispute resolution and vendor management. A relocation expert, Deirdre ensures a smooth office relocation and has also worked with GSA Telecom to ensure all telecom lines are ported, systems relocated, tested, and verified. Before joining TTG, Deirdre worked at a large hospital managing, designing and administering the voice and data infrastructure and networks.

Noteworthy Projects: Project managed a replacement PBX system for a hospital with 3,000 endpoints.  This involved working with the customers to determine their requirements, the PBX vendor for the implementation, schedule, support, end users training and follow up problem resolution, the cabling vendor for appropriate cable plant design, and the telecom circuit vendors for DIDs and connectivity.  She managed the Service Desk, voice and data infrastructure teams and designed structured cabling system for the voice and data systems.
